6 best fitness computer games
The calorie blaster - Dance Central, £39.99, Xbox360
Two left feet? Not a problem. Step-by-step instructions, an on-screen dancer to follow and tracks from the likes of Rihanna will keep you motivated.
A sensor tells you when you've missed a step and offers drills to help you correct mistakes. Even the 'easy' setting offers a calorie-blasting workout.
Rating: 4/5
The leg and arm firmer - Kinect Sports, £39.99, Xbox360
This isn't the most strenuous game but it's so enjoyable you're likely to spend longer playing, plus you can get mates involved.
There are six sports to choose from and all require a lot of legwork. Throwing a javelin or running with high knees over the hurdles are great for targeting leg and arm muscles.
Rating: 4/5
The body shaper - New U Fitness Yoga and Pilates, £24.99, Wii
Choose your goal - weight loss, relaxation or toning a certain area - then do a customised plan created from over 100 moves.
It's good for all levels, but die-hard Pilates fans may be disappointed as it's definitely more yoga heavy.
Rating: 3/5
The top-to-toe toner - Your Shape Fitness Evolved, £39.99, Xbox360
Like having a home gym, this offers personal training, cardio classes and games for total-body toning.
It tracks every move, so there's no wimping out of those last two squats, and saves everything you do to your profile, so you can keep track of your progress.
Rating: 5/5
The waist whittler - Zumba Fitness, £29.99, Wii; £39.99, PS3 and Xbox360
Perfect for die-hard Zumba fans. For newcomers, though, it's short on teaching the actual moves.
Strap the remote to your waist and follow the instructor on screen. It works for your waist, but minimal instruction makes it easy to fall behind.
Rating: 2/5
The weight-loss aid - Get Fit with Mel B, £29.99, Wii; £39.99, PS3 and Xbox360
A cartoon version of you and Mel work out side-by-side, which is very motivating!
Choose from resistance work, dance, kickboxing and Step workouts, then supplement your hard work with meal plans and support from the online community.
